Famagusta 's Cultural Heritage

Enkomi, Salamis, the statues and mosaics, the basilicas of Kampanopetra and Ayios Epiphanios, the whole city of Famagusta, its walls, the Archaeological Museum, the private collections of Hadjiprodromou, Marangos, Louizos, the countless churches in the district of Famagusta, Apostle Barnabus, Kanakaria... are only some of the magnificent monuments we have been robbed by the Turkish military forces.

The protection and preservation of Cyprus ' cultural heritage is of universal significance.

It is of critical importance that the mechanisms and tools at the disposal of the international community be put into action so that the pillage and continuous plundering of Cyprus ' rich historical heritage be stopped. Should cultural organizations such as UNESCO fail to take action and should public opinion not react to such evident destruction, then one should rethink the role and mission of such organizations whose primary role is to identify and safeguard the world' s cultural heritage.
